Parkside Organic Ranch is situated on 450 acres of mixed timber and agricultural land in the heart of the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation. The landscape includes 40 acres of farmland, a homestead site, a pond, multiple springs, cedar groves and a small diverse well-timbered mountain of 350+ acres that has been sustainably logged since 1928.
We’re 1.5 miles from the lake; next door to Heyburn State Park and have easy access to Spokane or Coeur d’Alene, ID. We are also close to an aquatic center and lots of back country exploration opportunities. There is an excellent free bus service to the big cities close by, as well.
We have primarily grown garlic seed and harvested timber, but in 2012 we added (3) 1,000 sq.ft. hoop houses which will be planted using raised bed planting techniques for tomatoes, squashes, peppers, gourds and other native species being grown for specific projects to enhance the property. We harvest garlic stapes in July for processing; garlic seed is harvested in August; wild-crafting on the property occurs year-round. We have restoration projects underway as well … reviving the old farm buildings, fence repair and preparing new fields for additional planting. Long range plans include an outdoor amphitheater for musical concerts and camping as part of our Eco-farm marketing.
